Render Capital is a Louisville-based venture firm investing pre-seed and seed in Middle America founders. We exist to make sure great founders in the corridor are seen, and backed, by capital that understands what they're building.
Why we exist
For thirty years, venture capital has concentrated capital, talent, and attention in three coastal metros: San Francisco, New York, and Boston. Meanwhile, the regions that drive the largest and most critical industries contributing to US GDP (healthcare, manufacturing, supply chain, consumer brands, software for the real economy) have been building real companies with very little institutional venture backing.
That gap is the reason Render exists. We invest across the heartland and commerce corridor: Louisville, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Nashville, Memphis, Birmingham, Atlanta, Dallas. The cities where great founders are building real businesses and don't see venture capital walking through their door.
Render's bet is straightforward: when you go to the founders coastal funds miss, when you back them at the right stage with the right check, and when you stay close after the wire, you compound advantages the rest of the market is too far away to see.
In practice
What "Local Roots, National Reach" means.
Local roots.
We're embedded in three cities along the corridor: headquartered in Clarksville, Indiana, with offices in Louisville and Dallas. We don't fly in for a meeting and fly back out. We travel to our portfolio companies, we host founders at our offices, and we know the operator communities in the cities we invest in by name.
National reach.
We co-invest with a syndicate of national venture funds and angel networks representing tens of billions of dollars in assets. Our portfolio companies raise follow-on capital from coastal firms because Render did the early work of finding the company, and then made the introductions.
Active boards.
We take board seats. We work the network. We pick up the phone. Render's job after the wire is to catalyze the three things every early-stage company needs: customers, capital, and talent. That phrase is ours and it's the actual operating model.
Sector discipline.
We invest in six sectors: B2B SaaS, supply chain and logistics, advanced manufacturing, CPG, food and beverage, and healthcare. We don't chase what's hot. We don't invest in bio, life sciences, pharma, guns, lottery, ammo, or alcohol. The exclusion list is a values statement, not a logistics decision.

Our values

Three words we say out loud often enough that the team knows them by heart and the portfolio expects them as a baseline.

- We invest in founders we want to be in the trenches with for the next decade. We extend the same standard to ourselves and our LPs: what we say in person matches what we say on the cap table.
- Transparency.
- We don't ghost. We answer the question that was actually asked. We tell founders the real reason for a no. Portfolio updates land on time and without spin.
- Communication.
- Founders should never wonder where they stand with their investors. We pick up the phone, return the email, and show up in the room.
